Acacia Seyal (Shittim)

An extremely rare wood with very limited supplies. Throughout Exodus 25 details are given regarding the Ark of the Covenant and its poles and the table of showbread and its poles. It states that they are to be made of Shittim wood from the Shittah tree. Shittim is again mentioned in chapters 26 and 38, this time talking about the construction of the tabernacle and the table of burnt offering.

Bethlehem Olive Wood

The olive tree is native to the Holy Land where is has been cultivated since ancient times. Reaching the age of 200 years, the trunk disappears as shoots develop at the base of the trunk and grow into a new tree, Hence the reputation as the immortal tree.

Carob Wood

The Carob tree (Ceratonia siliqua) is the only tree in the Holy Land that can out live the olive tree. The carob fruit is known as St. John's Bread and according to a tradition of some Christians, John the Baptist subsisted on them in the wilderness. Because its seeds always weigh the same, goldsmiths used them for the original weight for a carat. It ranges from dark red to pink and creamy colors with some having veins running through the wood.

Other Bible Woods

There are many different woods mentioned in the bible. Some of them such as olive are mentioned several times. Others such as Thyine are only mentioned once. Some are not even mentioned directly but only by reference of their by-products like Cinnamon.
